TEW 2005 FAQ
Q: Can I use data from other games?
A: Databases from TEW04 can be transferred to TEW05, but databases from EWR, TEW07, and TEW08 are incompatible with TEW05.
Q: Is TEW more time consuming to play than EWR?
A: For most people, yes. TEW is more in depth than EWR.
Q: Will TEW05 work under Windows Vista?
A: Yes, but make sureyou right click on the TEW game icon and choose “run as administrator” before you start the game. Failing to do so often results in buggy gameplay, and games not saving correctly.
Q: How do I install mods/scenarios?
A: You can find both a helpful written and video tutorial below.
Q: My screen looks weird, I can’t see all the buttons or they’re not where they’re supposed to be.
A: That’s not really a question, but right click on your Desktop -> Properties -> Settings, and alter your screen resolution to a bigger one if you can’t see all the game. Alternatively, if that doesn’t work, go to the same Settings menu, but click Advanced. You will see a place to set your DPI, make sure it is 96.
Q: Can I turn a Saved Game into a Mod/Database like I could with EWR?
Q: How do I start my own promotion in TEW 2005:
A: Two ways. The first, and easiest way is to go into the editor before you start a game, and create your promotion there, and begin a game with it under freestyle mode with the “Start game as owner” option checked. The other way to start your own promotion is to do it in game, after winning the “Booker of the Year” award.
Q: Can I change the day that a television show airs in game?
A: No, not while the show is under contract anyway. You can only change the day a show airs when the networks begin negotiating again (when your contract is up.)
Q: Ah! Help, I keep getting the “Run-time Error ’58’ File Already Exists” message!? How can I stop this?
A: Check in the save game folder and remove all files that don’t end in “.tew”. Furthermore, if you are playing in Vista, you must be in Administrator mode. In addition, it has been reported that turning off the User Account Control may help TEW run under Vista in some circumstances.
